You’re not broken. You’re just not living a life that feels like yours

introduction

Hi, I'm Ruth—and I've been where you are.

Successful on paper, exhausted in reality. Constantly shape-shifting to meet everyone else's expectations while losing touch with who you actually are. Wondering when you became someone you don't even recognize.

I get it because I lived it.

my story

My Wake-Up Call (AKA: When My Body Said "No More")

I spent years being the person everyone expected—good job, stable career, smile on cue. I went into social work because it made sense on paper, but I felt like I was constantly hiding parts of myself to fit in.

Eventually, my body forced the conversation I'd been avoiding. A diagnosis of Crohn's disease made me realize: you can't perform your way to peace.

The breakdown became a breakthrough. I slowed down, asked the hard questions, and began reconnecting with who I actually am—not just who I thought I was supposed to be.

That journey taught me something crucial: The path back to yourself isn't about fixing what's wrong. It's about remembering what's already right.

A group of people with different skin tones, placing their hands together in a pile, showing a gesture of unity and teamwork.

Now I help other women do what I've done—come home to themselves. Through breathwork, somatic tools, nervous system support, and intentional community, I guide women out of the "performance trap" and back into authenticity.

My credentials: Masters of Social Work, certifications in CBT and meditation, years in private practice and community mental health.

My real qualifications: I've walked this path. I know how lonely it feels to be successful but not satisfied. I understand the courage it takes to stop performing and start living.

Why I Do This Work

Because I know what it's like to feel disconnected from who you really are.

What Makes This Space Different

Let's be real: Your healing shouldn't feel like another item on your to-do list.

This isn't a high-vibe hustle zone or a "fix yourself" space. It's a soft landing for the woman who's exhausted from pretending to have it all together.

Here's what you won't get:

  • Pressure to be positive when you're not

  • Another performance to master

  • Someone trying to fix what isn't broken

Here's what you will get:

  • Permission to feel whatever you're feeling

  • Tools that work with your real life, not against it

  • A guide who believes you already have what you need

I'm not here to fix you. I'm here to walk with you while you remember your strength, softness, and self-trust.

behind the scenes

In case you’re wondering who you’re working with…

When I'm not holding space for big feelings and brave transformations, you'll find me:

  • Cuddling with one of our three cats (Olive, Gus, Salem) or giving our schnauzer Huron some much-needed attention

  • Going on adventures with Keith (my husband) and Huron the schnauzer

  • Getting lost in a good British mystery—books, shows, I don't discriminate

  • Dreaming about a homestead life with a piano in the corner and goats in the yard

  • Quietly people-watching with a tea in hand

I'm an introvert with a big heart and a low tolerance for bullshit. I love animals, swear a little, and believe healing is sacred but doesn't always have to be serious.

Bottom line: When I say I see you, I really do. Because I've been you.

The Official Bit

I'm the founder of Grounding with Ruth, a breathwork and somatic-based wellness practice. Based in Ontario, Canada, I work with women online and in-person.

Important note: While I'm a trained social worker, the work I do through Grounding with Ruth isn't social work—it's not clinical, not therapy, and not part of a regulated practice.
