You’re not broken. You’re just not living a life that feels like yours

introduction

about ruth

I’m Ruth — breathwork guide, somatic space holder, and recovering burnout queen. I help women stop shape-shifting to please others and start living in alignment with who they really are.

my story

My Wake-Up Call (AKA: the plot twist)

I spent years trying to be the person everyone expected — good job, stable career, smile on cue. I went into social work because it made sense on paper. And while the work had meaning, I felt like I was constantly hiding parts of myself to fit in.

Eventually, my body said “no more.”

A diagnosis of Crohn’s disease forced me to reevaluate everything. I slowed down, asked hard questions, and began a deep process of reconnecting with who I actually am — not just who I thought I was supposed to be.

It wasn’t easy. But it was everything.

A group of people with different skin tones, placing their hands together in a pile, showing a gesture of unity and teamwork.

What I Do Now

Holding space for your real self to come forward.

I now help other women do what I’ve done — come home to themselves. Through breathwork, somatic tools, nervous system support, and intentional community, I guide women out of burnout and back into authenticity.

I mix professional training with lived experience, and bring humour, softness, and groundedness to every space I hold.

This is not a “fix yourself” space.

It’s a “you already have what you need — let’s help you remember” space.

What Makes This Space Different

Let’s be real: Healing shouldn’t feel like another performance.

This isn’t a high-vibe hustle zone.

It’s a soft landing for the woman who’s exhausted from pretending to have it all together. A place to unlearn pressure and performative self-care — and return to a gentler way of being.

I’m not here to fix you. I’m here to walk with you while you remember your strength, softness, and self-trust.

behind the scenes

In case you’re wondering who you’re working with…

When I’m not holding space for big feelings and brave transformations, you’ll find me doing the simple things that make me feel most like myself:

  • Cuddling with one of our three cats or giving our dog some much-needed attention so he doesn’t get jealous

  • Going on adventures with Keith (my husband) and usually our dog Huron

  • Getting lost in a good British mystery — books, shows, I don’t discriminate

  • Dreaming about a homestead life with a piano in the corner and goats in the yard

  • Singing (classically trained once upon a time), reading, or quietly people-watching with a tea in hand

I’m an introvert with a big heart and a low tolerance for bullshit. I love animals, swear a little, and believe healing is sacred but doesn’t always have to be serious.

This work is personal to me — because I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from who you really are.

So when I say I see you? I really do.

professional bio

The Official Bit

I am the founder of Grounding with Ruth, a breathwork and somatic-based wellness practice. I hold a Masters of Social Work, with certifications in CBT and meditation. After many years in private practice and community mental health, I now combine my professional background with holistic healing to support women moving through burnout, disconnection, or the call to live more fully.

I am based in Ontario, Canada, and works with women online and in-person.

While I am a trained social worker, the work I do through Grounding with Ruth isn’t social work — it’s not clinical, not therapy, and not part of a regulated practice.
